Jargon

US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has agreed to no longer use the term 'anomaly' for trans passengers.

'cisgender' finally in the Oxford English Dictionary.

'cisvestitismus' was used as early as 1914.

'Female/Feminine Embodiment Fantasies (FEFs)' proposed by Julia Serano as less pathologizing alternative to 'autogynephila'.

'hen' neuter pronoun in Swedish.

'Male/Masculine Embodiment Fantasies (MEFs)' proposed by Julia Serano as less pathologizing alternative to 'autoandrophila'.

Mx as an alternate honorific to Mr, Mrs, Miss, Ms increasingly accepted.

'transgender' in Collins English Dictionary list of Words of the Year along with binge-watching and manspreading

'pheneticize' - alternate term to passing that shifts the focus from the viewed to the viewer.
“perceiving people based on a subjective examination of their outward appearance”. Article about usage in 'race passing':

Stochastic terrorism: the use of mass communications to incite random actors to carry out violent or terrorist acts that are statistically predictable but individually unpredictable. In short, remote-control murder by lone wolf.
The formula is perversely brilliant:
  1. A public figure with access to the airwaves or pulpit demonizes a person or group of persons.
  2. With repetition, the targeted person or group is gradually dehumanized, depicted as loathsome and dangerous—arousing a combustible combination of fear and moral disgust.
  3. Violent images and metaphors, jokes about violence, analogies to past “purges” against reviled groups, use of righteous religious language—all of these typically stop just short of an explicit call to arms.
  4. When violence erupts, the public figure who have incited the violence condemn it—claiming no one could possibly have foreseen the “tragedy.”
--- this article does not mention transphobia or homophobia, but obviously we are on the receiving end of both hate in the media, and of apparently unconnected murders.”

News Media

Psychology Today finally stopped accepting adverts for conversion therapy.

Kate Stone, scientist who took action after some newspapers identified her as trans, has been appointed to the press regulator’s editors’ code committee.

The Independent Press Standards Organisation upheld complaints by Trans media Watch against The Sun which had wondered about blind Parliamentary candidate, Emily Brothers: “Being blind, how did she know she was the wrong sex?”

A series of negative articles in The New York Times.

Zoey Tur, ex-helicopter journalist, was profiled in Los Angeles Magazine, caused a stir with her beliefs about hormonal causation and in dismissing Carlotta Sklodska as a fetishist. In July, in response to transphobic taunting from right-winger Ben Shapiro, Tur made a macho threat.
Jayne Rowlands has a job with BBC Wales.

India Willoughby, who used to present ITV News’ regional Borders programme, has completed transition.

Andrew Guy won a competition to co-host The Project on Channel 10.

Eden Lane, Colorado, reported and television host since 2008.

The Editorial Board of the Amazon-owned Washington Post denounced the fear-mongering that has become a staple of debates over transgender student rights and led to tragic discrimination against transgender students. The fear-mongering is based on the debunked bathroom myth hyped by right-wing media.
